The Delta Blues Duo is a Dutch group, founded in 2000, when a blues harmonica player and a guitar player, both with a more than average interest in country blues, met through a mutual friend.
We both have been active musicians for a long time. Bart Van Der Putten has been a jazz musician for almost twentyfive years, working in many different groups. Wim Rietveld has been a musician for 36 years. He played all kinds of music: from brass band to pop and from folk to jazz and improvised music.
In The Delta Blues Duo we celebrate our love for blues. Playing harmonica and clarinet, guitar, Dobro, mandolin and banjo we play our own compositions, strongly influenced by our favourite blues musicians. Fred McDowell, Robert Pete Williams, Lightning Hopkins, Robert Johnson en Sonny Boy Williamson, to name but a few. We try to stay as close as possible to the original source of the blues, both emotionally and technically.
